HARRACHOV & OUR TIPS
We have prepared for you ten winter and summer tips. We have made a guide for orientation in Harrachov and a list of must see and do items. If you follow our tips we believe you will spend a very rewarding and memorable week in the Apartments Čertovka.
HARRACHOV 10 winter tips
Tip 1.
If you like cross-country skiing and you like fast but short runs but are not looking at spending the entire day with this one activity, try a superb cross-country skiing area below the Čertova mountain. There are usually well maintained cross-country tracks – 300 m away from the Apartments Čertovka.
Tip 2.
Do not miss a ride on well maintained down-hill slopes located on the Čertova mountain – 300 m from the Apartments Čertovka.
Tip 3.
If you have young kids, visit the cult Ski school B+B in Zákoutí, the specialist for children - 500 m from the Apartments Čertovka.
Tip 4.
Visit the local brewery and glassworks Novosad and son - 850 m from the Apartments Čertovka.
Tip 5.
Make a photo of the Mumlava waterfalls in winter - only 2 km from the Apartments Čertovka.
Tip 6.
Do not miss a visit of outstanding sauna in the Sportrelax center 007 - only 1,3 km away or 2 min by car from the Apartments Čertovka.
Tip 7.
If you like longer cross-country trips, go to the cross-country paradise in Jakusczyce in Poland, just behind the polish border. From our indoor parking only 4,6 km away or 5 minutes by car.
Tip 8.
If you haven’t tried snowboarding before, why not try during your next visit? Visit Ski Servis Ploc right in the Apartments Čertovka and ask for Jana instructor. A discount has been prepared for you.
Tip 9.
For non - smokers, in Pension 7 try goulash or fried cheese, in the Pizzeria Verde Rosa authentic Italian pizza or pasta. Both restaurants are in front of the Apartments Čertovka. Other options for good eating are Penzion Hotel David where you can try roasted duck and czech dumplings.
Tip 10.
Buy groceries at home or before reaching Harrachov for the entire stay in Harrachov because unfortunately currently there are no good markets with a wide range of basic products in the Harrachov. The nearest quality markets (Billa, Penny, Lidl) are in Tanvald (15 km away). On the bright side the bakery in Harrachov is fine.
Harrachov 10 summer tips
Tip 1. Have a ride on MTB along the Mumlava creek and visit the Vosecka chalet (12 km, track has been opened for cyclists too).
Tip 2. Make a photo of the Mumlava waterfalls in summer - 2 km from the Apartments Čertovka.
Tip 3. Make a bike trip to the Jizerske mountains. Route: Harrachov golf course -along the Jizera creek - Bukovec - Smědava (a nice place for lunch after 21km) - Polubný - Kořenov – and back to Harrachov (totally 41 km).
Tip 4. Visit local brewery a glassworks Novosad and son - 850 m away from the Apartments Čertovka.
Tip 5. Take a ride by local cog railway to Tanvald - the railway station is 3,5 km away from the Apartments Čertovka and it is located in the municipal part Mýtiny.
Tip 6. Do not miss a visit of the outstanding sauna in the Sportrelax center 007 - 1,3 km away or 2 minutes by car from the Apartments Čertovka.
Tip 7. Try something unconventional in Harrachov. We recommend the bobsleigh track and adjacent rope center or as a alternative you visit Vertical park that is located right in front of the Apartments Čertovka. For others, perhaps the challenge of a swing at the local golf course in Harrachov is more appealing. - 3,5 km away or 4 min by car from the Apartments Čertovka.
Tip 8. Try a hiking trip. Route: Studenov - Ručičky - Dvoračky - Růženčina zahrádka - Pančavská louka - Krakonošova snídaně – and back to Harrachov in valley of Mumlava creek (22 km long – whole day trip).

Why to visit Harrachov?
We are not about to tire you out by a detailed list of activities that you can perform in Harrachov. We would rather offer you couple our experiences and observations that can facilitate your orientation in Harrachov. We personally appreciate Harrachov in comparison with other Czech mountain resorts for its wide range of sport activities that offers both in summer and in winter. We believe that Harrachov is the most universal ski resort in the Czech Republic. We explain why. Harrachov has its unique strategic location in the Giant Mountains with the respect of the vicinity of the Jizerske mountains and the vicinity of Jakuszyce the polish cross-country paradise. If you like both downhill skiing and cross-country skiing and you want to combine both activities then Harrachov is the best address for you. In Harrachov you can find wide range of well maintained cross-country tracks leading right from the town center. If you want to make longer cross-country ski trips, you can go to Jakuszyce located just behind the borders (from the Apartments Čertovka only 4,5 km away) or you can visit Jizerske mountains (from the Apartments Čertovka 18 km away) where is a huge number of cross-country skiing routes. The last but not least option regarding cross-country skiing is to make a trip to the ridges of the Giant mountains right from the top of the Čertova mountain.
From our point of view for instance in summer Jizerske mountains due to its friendly profile much better opportunities for mountain biking the the Giant mountains. Harrachov as the west center of the Giant mountains is also good place for setting out for hiking trips. Harrachov is simply universal mountain resort in both main seasons. We must admit that not everything is perfect in Harrachov. We miss very much some small aqua-park there in case that weather is not good enough for the outdoor activities. Other unpleasant fact is that Harrachov misses a modern grocery shop with reasonable prices. . If you go to Harrachov, you should rather do shopping at home if you do not want to spend a fortune. The nearest good opportunity for shopping is in Tanvald (15 km away, 18 min drive), where you find currently Billa, Penny or Lidl on one spot or in polish town Jelenia Góra (34 km away, 36 min drive), where you can find Tesco hypermarket. The longer driving distance is bought out by lower prices in comparison with Czech ones. Credit card are welcomed and take in account also the fact that you cross state borders, so should have also some personal identity card with you. with you passport and some credit cards. Fresh bakery you can get in Harrachov in bakeries u Vokřínků or in the small Vietnam market Jana just a few steps away from the Apartments Čertovka.
In the section “Restaurants” we offer you couple tips where to go out in Harrachov and eat well. Generally we can say that restaurants in Harrachov corresponds to the Czech standard out of Prague where the standard is higher. It will be a bit problem to find in Harrachov a restaurant that bewitches you. We chose couple non smoking restaurants where you get a good meal and we have arranged discounts for you.
